Nokia began to ship N900
Since Nokia has announced their new flagship smartphone N900 in Auguest, fans of this Maemo powered mobile computer have been waiting for the delivery date for quite a long time. Though there have been plenty of review of N900, the excitement about it has been override by one of its major competitors, Motorola Droid, which has been available on market from Nov. 6. Fortunately, before customers lost their patience, Nokia began to ship N900 according Nokia’s official website.
However, the first batch of Nokia N900 would be sent to customers who have already put their pre-order since August. In the Nokia online shop, it shows “buy now” for N900. But if you go further by choosing Nokia online shops for individual countries, the status is still pre-order though there is note saying delivery will be in the mid-November.
There price of N900 on the Nokia online shop in US is $649 (without contract/simlock free), which is much cheaper than the price in Europe (599 euro in Netherlands and Spain, 649 euro in France). The Nokia online shop in UK shows N900 is not available in that region. I guess it is because N900 would be available via UK mobile operators like Vodafone first. According to local retailers, N900 is available for free from Vodafone with a 34.25 pound x 24 months contract.
I am also attempted by features of Nokia N900 though its weight is a little bit too heavy to me. And look at the price drop of Motorola Droid, maybe I should wait for a while before there is better deals of Nokia N900.
